Avanti Fort Worth Menu is just right for a dinner near Sundance Square Plaza

squareAvanti Italian Restaurant in downtown Fort Worth has a very casual vibe with about a 50/50 mix of indoor and outdoor dining, a private dining room and a sweet little oak & Carrera Marble bar. The service is efficient and friendly and the food is simple and very well-prepared. A few items on the menu venture into the area of haute cuisine at $40+ per plate but the heart of the menu consists of traditional favorites that can be had for less than $25. The Chicken Parmesan ($19), 3-Cheese Spinach Lasagna ($19) and Pan Seared 9oz Lobster Tail with Shrimp Diver Scallops & Linguini ($43) are all worthwhile. Appetizers are very well-prepared and perfect for a light meal with a shared salad. See the full dinner menu on the restaurant’s website

Avanti Restaurant Wine List Offers a Variety of Well-Priced Wines

Wines on tap include a good selection of 4 wines and the 2 whites and 2 reds are all interestingly served at a chilly temperature usually reserved for beaujolais. I almost never have a problem with bright acidic reds being served too cold in Texas however, and it’s a refreshing break that makes particular sense in this patio-oriented cafe where a cool drink can complement the balmy streetscape. If the red wine temperature bothers you I would suggest giving it a few minutes to warm up in the glass or ordering one of the many bottled wines that are available on the very reasonably priced and nicely varied wine list.

The Staff at Avanti is Visible & Friendly

Our regular server Jason is always very welcoming and quickly took the effort to learn our names and to make us feel welcome each time we come in. GM Carlos and Executive Chef Mario are always visible and involved with the guests. This restaurant just opened around April of 2016 and I hope they keep up the high level of attentiveness. It’s a great casual space for a well prepared meal that would also satisfy nicely for a special occasion.

Avanti is Close to Downtown Entertainment Venues

Conveniently located right next to the Worthington Hotel, Avanti is also just a few blocks from Sundance Square Plaza, Bass Performance Hall, Four-Day-Weekend and every other entertainment option in downtown Fort Worth. For anyone who remembers the old Tandy Center that was redeveloped into the current buildings (now called City Place), you might get a kick out of seeing the restored M&O Subway car housed in the adjacent lobby along with a museum of Leonard’s Department Store memorabilia. When I checked us in on Facebook I noticed that “Tandy Ice Skating Rink” is still a location choice here. All of that ice has long since melted away leaving only fond memories for locals who used to shop in the downtown store and ride the private subway from today’s Panther Island Parking Lot.
